I think I live in a hospital?

Hey guys! This is Austin coming at you at 2:11 in the morning from Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, UT.

I’m having a ton of fun in RT school while also working full time, and I found out that I spend 56 hours per week in hospitals(32 hours at my job at Utah Valley ER, and 24 in clinicals), which is only 35% of my week so it’s not too bad. Unless you’re just counting awake hours, which would make it exactly 50% of my awake time is spent in hospitals. Well, at least I’m having fun right?

This semester is my first one doing clinicals, which means that twice a week I get assigned to a random respiratory department somewhere in either Salt Lake or Utah county, and I go and learn from a seasoned RT for 12 hours. I have been learning so much! It makes me want to keep branching out and learning more about how to help people heal.

Anyway, I really don’t get to do anything else besides work and school right now. Hopefully life will start to become more normal after I graduate next year.

Love you guys!

Crazy hours, Austin! Hang in there—i know you can do this and do it well!!

I still struggle for a full breath occasionally (last night) and I think of all you are learning and how important it is. I can only imagine the things you are seeing.

Huge workload, particularly for taxing in-person work. Hopefully you can transition to something more sustainable soon!
